
The organizers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam tournament announced details of the sixth stage, which will begin on Friday at the Mubadala arena in Abu Dhabi as part of Abu Dhabi Showdown Week. The event will feature the best fighters in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts.
Tarik al-Bakhri, the general director of the International Sports Administration Vision, the tournament organizers, and Mohammed al-Hassani, a member of the organizing committee and official combat sports organizer, attended the press conference. The event also featured well-known fighters such as Anderson Ferreira, Joze Formiga, Isaki Bakhinsi, Jansen Gomes, Bruno Lima, Tagir Ulanbekov, Makhmmad Mokaev, and Kuat Akhmedov.
Al-Bakhri noted that the tournament started a year ago in the UAE, traveled through Brazil and France before returning to the capital, Abu Dhabi. He added that the current version is distinguished by the presentation of new goals reflecting the UAE strategy to strengthen the status of jiu-jitsu and martial arts at the global level in a unique manner. He emphasized that the growing international interest in these sports contributes to the success of the tournament.
He also highlighted that the committee aims to attract the best international fighters to provide a unique experience for the audience, emphasizing that this direction is part of the committee's strategy to strengthen the position and reputation of the tournament at the global level.
Mohammed al-Hassani underlined the importance of the role of the tournament partners, particularly the Emirates Atomic Energy Corporation and the leading company in the field of financial technologies Pyypl, for their support during this stage of the tournament.
He noted that in the last week of preparations, there were some changes in the lineup and a few surprises, but the organizers managed to replace fighters who could not participate due to injuries or unforeseen circumstances, which demonstrates the professionalism of the organization. He emphasized that holding the sixth stage in Abu Dhabi would enhance the tournament's success, considering that the city serves as a hub for the best professional fighters in this field, and he noted that the next stage in Brazil on November 17 will be full of surprises.
